Glow Worm

William came home with a touch of jaundice. Apparently this is common when you're on pitocin for so long. I was on it for 27 hours. We got him some light therapy, which made him look like a little glow worm. It was hard to capture the effect with the camera, but this is him wrapped in the glowing pad, attached to a hose, which was attached to a box, which had to remain plugged in. It was slightly cumbersome, but apparently a lot better than the older methods people used.


The worst part was having to check his temperature every hour (yes - all night long... ) and then check his skin every two hours, as well as documenting how much he ate, how often he pee'd and how often he pooped - and of course what color it was! FUN! :-)

He was lucky, he had plenty of hands to hold him. Here is a picture of Matt and his Mom with Will.



He was only on it for about 24 hours. After that we brought him back to the hospital to have his blood re-checked and the levels had dropped significantly, so we were able to stop treatment and return the machine.

Here he is, looking less yellow and more content without the alien glow!
