Healthy Baby Boy

We had the second ultrasound this morning. They had a cancellation and were able to get us in right away, which was wonderful. This ultrasound was not as detailed as I had hoped, but the news was great! I'll post pictures later today or tomorrow.

The choroid plexus cyst was not in the brain any longer, so it had resolved itself within the week. It is apparently a fluid filled sack in the part of the brain where there is a collection of spinal fluid. He does have a calcium deposit in one of the ventricles of his heart. The doctor said that this is very common. Many times it resolves itself before birth or may not, but in any case it isn't in the way or causing any problems. She said many people have them. They checked for many other makers for Down's and he didn't have any of them. The bridge of his nose is great. His eye sockets and eye lenses are great. He doesn't have a cleft palate, the upper lip looked great. His heart was going at about 136 beats per minute (normal range is 120-160). The blood flow through the heart was great. We could see his spine, stomach, diaphram, bladder, and kidney's. Everything was great! Exactly as they would expect for his 'age'.

He's 21 weeks and 15 ounces.

They got a few more shots of his arms, legs, feet, and hands. They were able to count the toes and fingers and all 20 are accounted for. Although it was difficult to count the toes on one foot, as he was holding on to them and his hand was in the way, but they came back later and were able to count those. The same thing happened when trying to count the fingers on one hand - he was holding on to it with the other hand and she had to wait until he let go.

He was moving around quite a bit. She re-verified his 'man-hood' and last but not least, she got another profile shot. He kept his chin tucked under, touching his chest. Then she asked him to lift his chin so she could get a better shot and ... he did!! It was pretty funny.

He's cute AND co-operative!! Wonderful!! :-)

Thanks for all the well wishes!! We greatly appreciate it! More pictures to come...
